I came across this amazing site called Brightly when I was researching kids’ travel books. It turns out I’m not alone in feeling like there just isn’t enough out there for the 3-12 crowd. I’m so grateful for people like Tom Burns who recognize the importance of this genre. His website BuildingaLibrary.com is also a great resource for connecting our kids with quality books of all kinds.
One of his recommendations that really grabbed my attention was a visual series published in the 50s and 60s by Czech painter Miroslav Sasek. Each book takes you on a tour of an infamous city — Paris, London, New York, and Rome — from the perspective of a child. Even my little one (she’s only 4!) loves it because of the illustrations.
I highly recommend this for your littles. It could be just what you need to get your young explorers dreaming about far off places!
